What happened was, I took a little break from swatch knitting. I swapped the swatches for some mitten and sock knitting. And now I can’t remember what needle sized I used for my first three Guild swatches. A neat trick I read about somewhere is you can knot the end of your cast on yarn to match the number of your needle size. So for socks, if you are using size 2 needles, just add two little knots at the end of the cast on yarn. It’s such a clever idea, and yet, I didn’t do it. So now I have three swatches and no idea if I used size 7, 8, or 9 needles to knit them up. It’s very important that you be consistent with your needles throughout the swatches. So I had three swatches done, but now I have to redo them.
Actually I feel like I might have had to redo them anyway. I see three problems with this swatch already. I do realize that the knitting guild isn’t going to scan my swatch and then digitally manipulate the image so that the flaws are easier to see, however..
#1 My edges are too loose.
#2 You can see my increases.
#3 I have little gutters in my garter stitch.
I don’t think most people would consider this fun, yet I do, I really love it.
